Samsung Galaxy S4 Battery Problem Fix: Samsung Offers Free Replacements

samsung-galaxySamsung’s Galaxy S4 has hit a rough patch in many ways. Not only are sales of the smartphone slowing down, but the handset is reportedly the victim of a severe battery swelling problem. Luckily, Samsung has issued a public statement on the matter and is promising to replace the batteries free of charge.

It seems like the Samsung Galaxy S4’s 2,600mAh lithium-ion battery simply couldn’t stand the pressure. Battery degradation is common with electronic devices, but is clearly an unwanted side effect when it occurs only a few months after the device was released. All in all, it made for some very unhappy customers.

German news outlet MobiFlip reported that (according to Google Translate), “A trusted contact who is sitting right at the source with a German provider confirms that the current confirmations are due to a faulty battery with the Galaxy S4 at about 30 percent.”

A 30 percent failure rate is pretty high, and Samsung has finally commented on the matter. The South Korean electronics manufacturer reached out to website Trusted Reviews and had this to say:

“We are aware of this issue, which has affected a limited number of customers. We ask all affected customers to please visit their nearest Samsung Electronics service center, where they can receive a replacement battery for free of charge. We remain committed to providing the best possible user experience for our customers.”

So there you have it folks. If you’ve been experiencing battery swelling and/or other battery issues, all you have to do is take it to a service center and Samsung will give you a new battery.
